My art is a manifestation of taking back my power and finding my voice. Not only as a woman or child sexual abuse survivor but also as the oldest of 12 children— raised within and escaping the cult of Mormonism.

My greatest inspiration comes from incorporating my love for nature and shapes and learning to love my inner child. I wish to be an example to others that acknowledging and owning the parts of my past that were very ugly and chaotic, was the fare to purchase my ticket to beauty and freedom.

“A Modern Twist When Yesteryear Is Missed,” the tagline I created for my work, embodies that choice. The autonomy to look back. Whether that be the history of your country, your family, or yourself.

My answer to do this gave me the strength to let go—allowing my natural talents to come to the surface and the courage to share them with the world.

Here’s to facing and owning your past. May we all rise together to create beautiful things.
